Don’t Look Back!

Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily.
Isaiah 28:16 NKJV

Hey there! Welcome back to this blog. I’m super excited to write to you today.

Gehazi was the servant of the prophet Elisha. A particular warrior called Naaman once visited the prophet Elisha because he was leprous and needed healing. Elisha sent Gehazi to tell the man to dip himself in the river Jordan seven times. Although, the man hesitated, he obeyed finally. He eventually got his healing after obeying then decided to  reward Elisha with gold, silver, clothes and many more.

Elisha rejected all he brought and sent the warrior back to his home. Gehazi, however, followed the warrior behind and when the warrior saw him, he stopped his chariot and came down. Gehazi dishonestly requested for some of the gifts in the name of Elisha. He got them and returned to Elisha’s house. Elisha being a man with a discerning spirit knew what Gehazi had done and cursed him, leaving Gehazi and his descendants leprous.

Gehazi became unsuccessful in life because he compromised with sin. He was greedy and decided to go back to the warrior. He looked back at what he would be losing if he let the money go.

Many of us look back at so many things in life. Past failures, past successes, past experiences. This makes us unsuccessful as we cannot look towards the future and past at the same time.

God definitely had amazing plans for Gehazi  the same way he has amazing plans for your life but Gehazi was hasty and looked back.

Do not drift from God’s path. You have so many expectations in life but that shouldn’t make you give room for compromise. Do not compromise with sin.

Stay on the right path. The Kingdom of God should be your priority and all other things will be added to you.

Don’t be like Lot’s wife who turned to a pillar of salt because she looked back. When you look back, you are telling God that you do not trust Him and you have the power to change your situation. Trust God and don’t be hasty.

Thank you for reading. I pray God gives you the grace to trust in Him. To contact the writer, kindly send a mail to oladewalaura@gmail.com.
