Neglecting the noise.

This topic reminds me of one story in The Bible- The story of David and Goliath.

I’d like you to have a pictorial representation of this somewhere in your heart.

There was Goliath, a tall and huge man. He was over 9 ft tall. His bronze coat alone weighed 125 pounds. He walked with so much noise that I cannot imagine. He carried a bronze javelin, etc. Noise everywhere.

The Devil is a noise maker as well and all his attributes are noisy. Fear is noisy, oppression is noisy, depression is noisy, you can keep naming them.

The noise maker, Goliath, was to battle with the Israelites. Let’s read this verse below

Goliath stood and shouted a taunt across to the Israelites. “Why are you all coming out to fight?” he called. “I am the Philistine champion, but you are only the servants of Saul. Choose one man to come down here and fight me!
1 Samuel 17:8 NLT

People who make noise are people who rely on their own strength. Let’s stop talking about him now.

Let’s move to the opponents- The Israelites. Oh no! They saw Goliath and they gave up on winning instantly. Words of discouragement here and there, “I heard he has never lost any battle, a man said”. “He’s been fighting for many years now, said another”. The backlash of words went round the entire team and they came to one conclusion. We have lost the battle, our enemies came prepared.

How disappointing is it to know that some of us are like this. We’ve not even engaged in the war but in our minds, we have concluded that we’ve lost the battle. We’ve fallen down to many times to rise up. Oh no!

Be like David, the man who neglected the noise. He knew he was small, yes he did. He also knew that he is not a noise maker. The one who trusts God is not a noise maker. Those who acknowledge Him do not make noise. They simply sit down and when He says go, they move. When He says stop, they stop. That’s the wisest thing to do. It’s a wise thing to lean on Someone whose foolishness is wiser than the wisdom of the wisest man. How do I know that? My Bible tells me so.

David, on getting to the battle ground.

The Israelites soldiers:

“Have you seen the giant?” the men asked. “He comes out each day to defy Israel. The king has offered a huge reward to anyone who kills him. He will give that man one of his daughters for a wife, and the man’s entire family will be exempted from paying taxes!”
1 Samuel 17:25 NLT

David wasn’t blind. He saw the giant but he knew the Creator of the giant. He didn’t forget his position as a son of God.

David decided to fight with Goliath since the rest of the army were oppressed. Saul, the king, gave him an armour but hey, it wasn’t necessary, he was already putting on the whole armour of the Lord. *Speaks in tongues*.

David neglected the noise from the naysayers and he won the battle.

To win any battle, you have to neglect the noise. The noise brings confusion and reduces convictions. The noise makes you question your why. “Why did I begin this journey?”, “Do I worth being here?”. It’s all noise.

Your victory is on the other side of leaning on God, fixing your gaze entirely on Him. In His arms are peace. God doesn’t make noise. He does things in the most ridiculous way. That’s a King yeah.

I choose to neglect the noise at all times. I choose to trust God at all times. I don’t know about you.

Storms do not last forever.

And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure whether the storm is really over.

But one thing is certain, when you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what the storm is about.

Welcome back to this blog! I trust you are good. Speaking of consistency, I’ve been trying to be more consistent with posting. We read in the name of The Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

Life is a blend of thorns and roses but he who dares not grasp the thorn should never crave the rose, someone said. The Bible says in 1st Corinthians 2 vs 9 – “That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”

During times of storms, one thing we can do is to keep holding to God’s Words because Heaven and earth will pass away but God’s Words will never pass away( Matthew 24:35).

God is preparing us for success. He can’t just take us to that position He plans for us because we won’t know how to handle the responsibilities if we had not passed through the preparation stage. The actress Juliana Olayode said in her book “Rebirth” that God doesn’t take people up, He grows people up so that when they get up, they will have learnt enough to handle the promotion well. Joseph passed through the storm, but it wasn’t to hurt him but to train him for his future. Esther passed through the storm but it prepared her to be a virtuous vessel.

Take every storm as a training ground for greater heights.

Forgetting your position?

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Genesis 1:28

Welcome back to my blog! Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. How have you been? I care about you and I trust that you are good.

Today’s post talks about forgetting your position. A particular day, I saw a chicken bullying a pigeon, trying to remove the contour feathers off the pigeon with it’s beak and I thought to myself “Did the pigeon forget that it can fly?” The pigeon remained there, trying to fight a battle it obviously did not excercise it’s authority on.

I think as humans, we do the same, we let situations of life overwhelm us and then we forget that we are greater than those situations. We forget that we can actually FLY above the situation.

There were some men who had the great and best Sailor in the boat with them, a storm came and immediately they forgot their position, they forgot who they were. Let’s read about that below please.

On that same day, in the evening, Jesus said to his disciples , ‘We should go across the lake to the other side.’ So they went and left the crowd behind. Jesus was already in the boat. So the disciples took Him across the lake. Some other boats also went with them. Then a strong wind began to blow across the lake. Water began to go into the boat and fill it. Soon the boat was almost going under the water. Jesus was in a comfortable place at the back of the boat. He was sleeping. The disciples woke him. They said to him, ‘Teacher, it does not seem to matter to you if we die here in the water!’ Jesus woke up and He spoke strongly to the wind and to the water. ‘Be quiet!’ he said. ‘Stop!’ Then the wind and the water became quiet again. Jesus said to his disciples, ‘You should not be afraid like that. You should believe in me.’
Mark 4:35‭-‬40 EASY
Youversion Bible

As you can see in the verses above, the disciples had power to overcome the storm. The pigeon had power to overcome bullying but in the midst of situations but it forgot it’s position and settled for defeat.

When we want to write an exam, we forget the Bible tells us we will be the head and not the tail, we will be above only and not beneath (Deuteronomy 28:13). We forget we have power, we begin to settle for fear. Our power on the other hand is waiting for us to use it. The wings of the pigeon weren’t missing, the pigeon forgot it’s position. This post is not about the pigeon, it’s about me, it’s about you. I want you to remember that NOTHING was created to be above you. You have been given power to rule even before you were created. What’s that thing that’s making you worried? Excercise power in your position. Don’t forget your position.

Stop hiding!

It’s a new year. Happy new year family! Welcome back to my blog! If you are new here, you are welcome in the name of the Lord! I hope that you enjoy reading this post and that you learn a thing or two as the Holy Spirit writes to you.

I love telling stories and I am going to tell you a story.

Photo credit: WordPress free photo library

A particular Sculptor created a beautiful sculpture. This sculpture was created to hold flowers of different kinds, keep them safe and protect them but the sculpture went hiding. It said to the Sculptor “I’m not sure I am fit for this job, find another please”.

The Sculptor replied “But I chose you”

The sculpture replied “there are other beautiful sculptures better than I am, send them. I am not capable.”

The argument went on and on till the Sculptor replaced the sculpture leaving this particular sculpture empty and the new one filled with more beautiful flowers that people saw and made them glorify the Sculptor.

That’s the story God would have me write to you but let’s look at the Scriptures.

If you haven’t read my previous post, Held back by fear, you can do that after reading this post.

1 SAMUEL 10. I will begin from verse 21 to reduce the length of the post but I implore you to begin from verse 1 personally.

21 Next, Samuel brought each clan of Benjamin there, and the Lord chose the Matri clan. Finally, Saul the son of Kish was chosen. But when they looked for him, he was nowhere to be found.

22 The people prayed, “Our Lord, is Saul here?”

“Yes,” the Lord answered, “he is hiding behind the baggage.”

Saul went hiding because he saw himself as incompetent. He saw his shortcomings even when he had been enlisted by God for greater heights and this affected his reign as king as it wasn’t a successful one.

This is what most of us do. Like Saul, we do not express our potentials. We say to ourselves “who am I to be this?”, “Who am I to achieve this feat?”, Who are you not to be?

God chose you and He wants to be expressed through your life. Don’t go hiding like Saul, don’t go hiding like Jonah. God has considered you fit for the journey ahead so express Him.

The One who enlisted you does not expect you to do it alone. His presence is with you!

New month; new resolutions? : How to plan for the month effectively.

Ephesians 5:15- 16.

15. See then that ye walk circumpectly, not as fools but as wise.

16. Redeeming the time because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:15- 16.

So be careful how you act; these are difficult days. Don’t be fools; be wise: make the most of every opportunity you have for doing good.

The living Bible ( paraphrased)

As long as you do not take advantage of your opportunities, you will never fulfil your destiny- Pastor E.A Adeboye (from the daily devotional “Open heavens” )

Welcome back again! Happy new month to you all. This month is a month of consistency and productivity for me. What’s your goal for this month?

Well, resolutions or goals aren’t for the year alone. You should have goals for every day, every month, every hour. Now I have a question for you, ask yourself sincerely please, are you happy with how you lived from January to October? Have you been making efforts towards achieving your goals? If yes, welldone! If negative, it’s not too late to begin again.

What is your proximity towards your goal? Is it declining? These are the questions you should ask yourself.

Below are few but powerful steps on how to plan effectively and how to be more productive.

1. Use a planner or a note to list out your goals for the month.

When you do this, it brings the spirit of dedication to you. You begin to have a sense of understanding with yourself. Listing your goals out also reduces stress. It drives you and gives you a room to accomplish more goals.

Ecclesiastes 9:10

Whatever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might, for there is no work nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

The verse there is simply saying, after death, there is no working where we are going hence we should do well while we are alive.

2. Prioritize what’s more important.

Put first things first! I know there are so many things you want to accomplish but you can’t do all at once. Do not multitask, it makes you tip toe around your goals rather than achieving one at a time.

3. Action.

Goals, plans, ambitions, determination etc are useless unless backed with actions. If you write all your goals down and do not act on them, then it’s all a joke.

4. Focus.

A successful man is not a man who knows a thousand things but a man who knows one thing and does that thing better than anyone else- From the book “Spirit of Apollo” by Sidney Newton Bremer.

5. Use deadlines.

It’s just like a student having an assignment, he or she has to submit on or before the deadline. Same way your deadline should be something you are conscious of. Your deadline makes you intentional about your goals.

6. Have a place dedicated to your work at home.

Make sure it’s free from distractions, make sure there’s enough lightning and put other factors in place too. Learn to be organized. Work the hours that suit you.

1 Corinthians 14:40

But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.

7. Break up bad habits.

Some people have the habit of scrolling through social media before working. It does not increase your efficiency at all rather it does not motivate one to start at all.

8. Be consistent.

Continuous effort; not strength or intelligence is the key to unlocking your potentials. Remember, Winners never quit and quitters never win.

Held back by fear.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure

We ask ourselves “who am i to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?”

Actually, who are you not to be?

“We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us

And as we let our own light shine,

We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”

Don’t be afraid of yourself!

Let’s talk about the story of the lame man in the Bible in the Book of John 5:1-7

1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

For 38 years, the excuse of the lame man was “I have no man” due to one reason, HE WAS AFRAID OF HIMSELF. We all know that is a flimsy excuse for someone who wants to walk again. He saw himself as inadequate and every time the water was stirred, he saw that someone got healed. So many blind people got healed during the period of 38 years even though they couldn’t see the water being stirred. The fear of uncertainty got to him and he deprived himself of healing for so long.

For some people, they want to excel in a particular exam and they are afraid that they will not be able to cover up, others have gone farther hence they do not have the drive to push, they become anxious to take another step forward and they are no longer different from the man at the pool of Bethesda. They are afraid of themselves.

For some, they want to venture into a particular business but the Devil has clouded their minds and all they see is the impossibility, all they think of is the impossibility. They are afraid of themselves.

This post is here to clear the fogs in your minds. Many people do not even realize that they are afraid of themselves. You are in a competition with a billion people does not mean you cannot win. It is a greater reason for you to win. YOU are THE LIGHT of the world.

There is depth in your identity.

  1. USE THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORD: The knowledge of the Word of God will cause you to have victory. 2 Timothy 1:7 says For God has not given us a spirit of fear but one of power, love and a sound mind. Fear is of the Devil and not of God. You can counter him using the Word.
  2. PRAY: 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray constantly
  3. Talk to someone about what is making you afraid. You might just be a conversation away from breakthrough.

In Nelson Mandela’s words “It is always impossible until someone does it”. You can do anything. There is more to you. There is so much you can do!
