Refiner!

These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
1 Peter 1:7 NLT

Hello there! Welcome to my blog! I’m writing to you in excitement knowing fully well that God is about to speak to you. I pray that your heart is open to hear from Him in Jesus name. Amen.

The process of refining gold is quite tasky as gold in it’s raw form is pretty useless. Gold needs to pass through fire so all the impurities can be removed.

In one of my previous posts, you read that you are God’s masterpiece . His biggest asset created by Him for His own pleasure.

However, to carry out God’s good works, you need to be refined. You need to be upgraded to a better and more useful version. Gold passes through fire not to get burnt but to be purified. The refining process is difficult but “when life gets tougher, it’s a sign that you are moving higher”. You’ve probably heard that quote.

Gold in its raw form is very irrelevant and cannot be used. This applies to you. To be used by God, you have to allow God take you through the refinery. When you choose to live life in your raw form (the way you are, the way you want), you will definitely lose relevance because you were created to please God, not yourself.

2 Timothy 2:20-21 says
In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.
2 Timothy 2:20‭-‬21 NLT

God is a wealthy God and He uses the best vessels – vessels made out of gold. You have to pass through the refinery to be purified just like gold.

When in the refinery, it might will get hot. In this moment, you need to focus on the Refiner and not the fire. When you focus on the fire, you will definitely feel the heat more but when you place your focus on God, the Refiner, you are encouraged because He is the end product. You are in the fire so you can become just like Jesus.

Unlike the goldsmith who leaves gold in the fire to get purified, you are not alone in the fire. God is right beside you and can feel everything you feel.

The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.
Psalms 121:5 NLT

A man who passed through the fire in the Bible was Daniel. He was taken to be a slave from his country with many others but he didn’t let his circumstances define him. He chose to focus on God, though the journey was rough and tough, he ended up becoming a top ruler because his focus was on pleasing God.

Dear friend, when you pass through the fire, you will never be burned up, the flames cannot consume you (Isaiah 43:2). Place your focus on God, remember He is always with you and trust Him completely (Proverbs 3:3-5).

If you are reading this and you haven’t received Jesus as your Saviour, now is the best time to do so. You were created by God and He loves you so much. You cannot reach God except through Jesus.

If you want to accept Jesus, with faith in your heart, you can say this prayer. “Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Saviour. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.”

The Holy Bible NLT Version

The Nature Of Patience.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud.
Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
1 Corinthians 13: 4, 7 NLT

Hi there! I’m super glad to have you here. I pray that this blog post inspires you to be patient with God and with yourself in Jesus name. Amen.

I’ll start with a story, as usual.

Bayo wanted to build a duplex. He got an architect, a few contractors, and building construction began. It took three months to complete the building. He hosted a house warming ceremony, sent pictures to his various social media platforms #ijustbuiltmyduplex. There were many comments from people. “It’s a beautiful house.” “God when?”
His friend, Soji wanted to build a skyscraper. He invited various architects, project managers, structural and civil engineers and many more. Getting the architectural drawings for the building took several months itself. The land had to be inspected severally, so many things were put into consideration. He was fed up. “Be patient.” He heard that voice in his spirit but his mind drifted to the pressures from his friends. “Don’t you feel you should have built your first house?” “It doesn’t take a long time to own a beautiful house?” “Are you sure your architect is doing a great job?” So many questions. He decided to listen to his spirit.

After sometime, he lost his friends. They claimed he wasn’t successful. Most of his friends owned many buildings and cars while he had just finished the foundation of his skyscraper. He successfully built the skyscraper after five years. It was a beauty to behold. The houses of his friends were lilliputians beside his. Story written by Oladewa Laura.

The word “patience” has gone into extinction in the world. Things should be done NOW. You must be rich NOW, you must be famous NOW.

Let’s talk about a successful character in the Bible – Deborah. Deborah was a prophetess, wife, mother, judge, activator of many destinies and more. Was she all of these in a day? She wasn’t. Nothing just happens. There was a process. (Judges 4 and 5).

Also, Joseph in the Bible experienced a winter season in his life. Everything seemed against him. His family turned their backs against him. However, he was patient with God and himself. He overcame and got to the fall season of his life; the season of overflow. Genesis 39-40.

Patience is natural. It’s in the Bible. Jesus Christ was born into the earth and waited patiently for thirty three years before he died for your sins. He had to wait for those years otherwise there will be nothing for you to look forward to. Imagine if he died a baby. How would you learn of Him?

Don’t be in a rush. In one of my previous blog post “superficial life “, I wrote about how nothing is as important as God and His kingdom. You need to make God your focus and God alone.

For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up in you the power of endurance (patience). And then as your endurance (patience) grows even stronger, it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking.
James 1:3‭-‬4 TPT (Emphasis added).

When you give yourself to patience, maturity and wholeness will be inevitable. What God is making out of you is different. Don’t compare yourself to others. It’s foolishness.

Trust God with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. Acknowledge Him and He will definitely direct your plans. God knows your dreams are extremely big. His plans are way bigger and they will come to fruition if you can trust Him alone.

Guard your heart from everything or anyone that makes you want to make haste.

If you don’t have the life of Christ, then it will be difficult for you to be patient as long- suffering is a fruit of The Holy Spirit. Without patience, you cannot have any hope for a beautiful future as you will keep chasing shadows. You can say this prayer with faith in your heart if you want to accept Jesus. “Dear Jesus, I acknowledge that you died for my sins. I ask that You forgive me of all my sins and make me your child. Thank You because You have forgiven me. Amen.”

Masterpiece.

You are a masterpiece. You are a beauty to behold. You are an asset to Me.

God

Hey there! Welcome to my blog. I’m really glad to have you here. I pray that as you read today’s blog post, you begin or continue to walk according to your identity in Jesus name. Amen.

Have you ever been to an art exhibition before? There, an art is presented by an artist or a group of artists to an audience. Masterpieces, works of outstanding artistry, made with extraordinary skill, are presented.

You are God’s masterpiece! God’s crowning achievement. You are wearing His glory. You are royalty! You may be feeling something less than this. You might be struggling with one difficulty or the other. You might have low self-esteem. How is it possible that you are a masterpiece?

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10 NLT

You are God’s masterpiece not because of your financial status, educational achievement, fame, background but because of what God has done in your life by His grace. You are God’s masterpiece because you are saved by God’s grace.

Just like an artist who takes his time to create a masterpiece, you were wonderfully created by God for His good works. He formed the delicate being that you are. He watched you as you were created and He is still watching you because He cannot afford to lose you.

Jesus died for your sins because of His love for you. You are God’s biggest achievement. There’s none as perfect as you. You are worthy. God considers you worthy and that’s why He can never give up on you.

Sometimes, you doubt your identity as God’s chosen. You did not choose God, He chose you instead. When God created you, He created you just as He is. Perfect. Beautiful. Worthy.

God chose you and wants to be expressed through your life. He saw your shortcomings. He knows your flaws. Nevertheless, He still considers you worthy. You were specifically created by God. You are a unique creation.

Why are you not living your life as God’s masterpiece?

You are comparing yourself to others. Imagine being the only one living on earth. Would you act differently than you are doing now? Would you feel small or unworthy? You wouldn’t because your focus isn’t on anybody else.

Your focus should be on God. He is the One who created you for His own good works. When you decide to focus on happenings around and not God, you are going to sink and settle for a life less than God’s plan for you.

Comparison kills purpose. God gave you a unique purpose. No one in the entire world is like you. You are a solution to a specific problem. God created us (the world) with different spiritual gifts so I can fill you (and others) up and you can fill me (and others) up too. The aim of this is to create unity.

Walking in comparison is foolishness.

For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
II Corinthians 10:12 NKJV

You are not studying the Word (properly). The Word of God is God Himself. If your physical father is a king and you do not live with him and learn from him, there is no way you can live like him. It’s same with God. You must constantly abide in Him. You must learn of Him. Since He is a King, when you study and meditate on His Words, you become like Him, you transform to His image.

On a final note, if you haven’t surrendered your life to Jesus. You are living a very dangerous life because there’s no crown upon your head hence you are a vagabond. To surrender your life to Jesus, you can say this prayer “Dear Jesus, I acknowledge that you died for my sins. I ask that You forgive me of all my sins and make me your child. Thank You because You have forgiven me. Amen.”

Burden Bearer.

Casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].
1 Peter 5:7 AMP

Welcome back to my blog! I’m glad to have you here. I pray that as you read today’s blog post, God speaks to your heart in Jesus name. Amen.

I’d love you to read this story below.

Tom, a believer, sat up late in his study worrying about many things. Undoubtedly, the same concerns came to his mind that come to yours – finances, health, the future, relationships. Finally, Tom felt as though the Lord was standing in front of him saying, “son, you go to bed. I’ll sit up the rest of the night.” Then Tom realised that God wanted him to give those burdens to Him. Tom gave those concerns to God, left them there and enjoyed a good night’s sleep. ( Story written by Oyesanya Esther Ifeoluwa).

When you worry, you are inviting the Devil to torment you. Fear hath torment. No one can carry your burdens for you, not even you. No one can solve your problems for you except God. This is why God said in 1 Peter 5:7 that you should cast all your fears on Him because He cares for you.

You are always on the mind of God. He is always thinking of how to help you. His desires for you outnumber the grains of sand on the surface of the earth.

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I could count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.
Psalms 139:17‭-‬18 AMP

Worrying solves nothing. It adds nothing to you. It only takes away from you. It rids you of your peace, joy and sound mind.

In the book of Exodus, Moses was given the responsibility of carrying the burdens of the Israelites. He couldn’t bear their burdens as they were too many and the Israelites kept complaining. He was overwhelmed.

God is the Burden Bearer and that’s how it is supposed to be. He is supposed to do the thinking for you. He neither sleeps nor slumbers for your sake. When you hand over your burdens to God, you will have a sound mind, the peace of God will guard your mind in a way that you cannot comprehend.

Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].
Philippians 4:6‭-‬7 AMP

What is that situation that is making you burdened? Friend, please can you hand it over to God? He will handle it. Without God, you can do nothing. Your spouse cannot bear your burden, neither can your friends. God is ever willing to bear those burdens. Come to the throne of grace to get help. Exchange weariness for rest by giving all those burdens to God.

Lastly, God only bears the burdens of His children. You have to be His child for Him to take care of your worries. To be God’s child, you have to believe that Jesus died, was buried and resurrected for your sins. To accept Jesus, you can say this prayer “Dear Jesus, I acknowledge that you died for my sins. I ask that You forgive me of all my sins and make me your child. Thank You because You have forgiven me. Amen.”

Now, you are a child of God. Everyone else around you might be overwhelmed by their burdens but just like Jesus was so calm in the storm, remain calm and cast your cares on Him.

Goodness.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
Galatians 5:22‭-‬23 NLT

Welcome back to this blog. I pray that as you read, your spiritual eyes are opened to see what God will have you see and your ears are opened to hear the Words of God.

The etymology of the word “goodness” is godnes which means “virtue, kindliness.”

Goodness is part of the fruit of the Holy Spirit but it is the least talked about and least expressed too. I’d love you to read this story below.

A particular Jewish man was robbed by bandits, stripped of his clothing, beaten up and left half dead by the side of the road. By chance, a priest was passing through and when he saw the man, he crossed to the other side of the road and passed by him. Likewise, a Levite saw him and did the same. A Samaritan passed through the road, when he saw him, he had compassion on him. He went to him, bound up his wounds, pouring oil and wine. He took him to an inn where he was further taken care of. Story paraphrased from Luke 10: 30-37.

All that we call “good” on earth is tainted and imperfect. God is the original definition of good. He is our model of the word goodness. Goodness is His character as John 10:11 reads “I am the good Shepherd; the good Shepherd lays His life for His sheep.” It is because of His love and goodness that He chose to pay the price for our sins.

God expects us to do good to everyone, regardless of who that person is because that is His character.

And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
Acts of the Apostles 10:38 NLT

Like the Good Samaritan, you are expected to be good to everyone. Jesus was good to everyone and He is our standard.

This isn’t something you can do by yourself. Goodness is a God-given attribute so it takes God to see it fulfilled. You will need God Himself to help you. The world and everything that is in it is overcome by evil so you need to be good to overcome that which is evil. This calls for intimacy with God. It is in the secret place that you pick up His strength and leave your inadequacy.

If you haven’t received Jesus into your life, you cannot model His goodness. For you to be good, you need to have the life of Christ in you. You need to accept and believe in Jesus. To accept Him, you can say this prayer “Dear Jesus, I acknowledge that you died for my sins. I ask that You forgive me of all my sins and make me your child. Thank You because You have forgiven me. Amen. “

Superficial Life.

So above all, constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, and then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.
Matthew 6:33 TPT

Happy New Month! Welcome to today’s blog post. I pray that God opens your heart to His words today in Jesus name. Amen.

I want to tell you a story. A particular rich man had a fertile farm that produced beautiful crops. The barn where he stored his harvest got filled so he said, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’ Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods. I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!” Story from the book of Luke 12:16-19 NLT‬.

This is the twenty first century. It’s really easy to be wealthy if you are equipped with the right knowledge. The rich man above was a wealthy man. He had more than enough. However, all the things he owned were superficial. Shallow. They were cosmetic.

Money is the currency of the world now. With money, you can walk into doors of renowned men because you will be renowned.

Money and everything it can possess are all superficial things. Superficial things are weak things. Whatever money can possess is not of eternal value as it fades eventually.

“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
Matthew 6:19-21 NLT‬

The introductory Bible verse says we should seek the Kingdom of God first and all the non-important things will be added. This means there is nothing as important as God and His Kingdom.

God’s will for you is that you prosper in every aspect of your life (3 John 1:2). He is a very rich God and expects that you lack nothing good. However, He doesn’t want you to be enslaved to that which you possess. Whatever you cannot let go for the Kingdom of God has become a god to you. The Bible says you cannot serve two masters. You cannot serve God and serve a god (your possessions, worldly image).

Colossians 3:2 says you should set your affection on things above and not earthly things. The Bible calls a person who stores up earthly treasures alone, a fool. Prosperity is God’s plan for you but greed isn’t.

“Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”
Luke 12:21 NLT

Jesus and His Kingdom is the focus. Don’t live a superficial life. The rich man in the story died the same night he planned to build a bigger barn. You will fade away like the rich man in the story above if you focus on superficial things.

Don’t live a superficial life. A life in God is one that can never fade. Such a life remains relevant.

But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green.
Psalms 92:12, 14 NLT‬

Those in God are the ones who remain relevant even when they are old. Their paths shine brightly day after day.

On a final note, you should know that if you haven’t accepted Jesus as your Saviour, you cannot remain relevant. To accept Jesus, with faith in your heart, you can say this prayer: “Dear Jesus, I have come to realise how much you love me. I ask that you forgive my sins so I become your child. Thank You Jesus because you have forgiven me. Amen.”

Thank you for reading this blog post. I know you learnt a thing or two, kindly share to your loved ones. To contact the writer, please send a mail to oladewalaura@gmail.com.
